An Evening with Margaret Atwood is held in recognition of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the 16 Days of Activism, proceeds from this event will support Interval House of Hamilton, helping to create a safer future for women and children in our community.

This Is More Than a Literary Event – It's a Call to Action
The evening will feature a dynamic, one-hour conversation moderated by television personality Steve Paikin, exploring the contemporary parallels between the fictional world of The Handmaid’s Tale and current events. Ms. Atwood will also share her insights on the evolving landscape of feminism and the future of women’s rights.
This landmark event will bring together literature lovers, philanthropists, and community leaders for a night of meaningful dialogue, cultural celebration, and impactful giving. All proceeds will support Interval House Hamilton, helping women and children rebuild their lives free from violence.

Margaret Atwood
Margaret Atwood is one of the world’s most celebrated authors, known for her groundbreaking fiction, poetry, and critical essays. Her works, including The Handmaid’s Tale, Alias Grace, and The Testaments, have earned international acclaim and numerous awards. A fierce advocate for human rights, the environment, and freedom of expression, Atwood’s voice continues to shape contemporary thought and culture.

Steve Paikin
Steve Paikin is a renowned Canadian journalist, author, and broadcaster, best known as the longtime host of TVO’s The Agenda. With a career spanning over three decades, he has moderated provincial and federal leaders’ debates and is widely respected for his thoughtful, balanced approach to current affairs. Paikin’s work has deeply influenced public discourse across Canada.

About Interval House of Hamilton
Interval House of Hamilton consists of the Victoria & Friends emergency 26-bed shelter, as well as community programs, for women and their children who are experiencing family violence, abuse and/or human trafficking. Founded in 1986, Interval House of Hamilton was the first shelter in Hamilton dedicated to exclusively serving women and children who have experienced violence or abuse. Today, Interval House of Hamilton offers a wide variety of programs and services, including community-based programs that provide counseling, peer-support, legal advocacy, and system navigation.
